Ephesus and Pergamon Tour
The marble streets of Ephesus plus Pergamon's dramatic acropolis and the Asclepion healing center — an epic full day.

In the morning you walk streets of marble; in the afternoon, terraces of white travertine with warm spring water at your ankles. Few single days on earth hold this much.
Pamukkale means "Cotton Castle," and no photograph prepares you: a hillside of pure white travertine terraces, formed over millennia by calcium-rich thermal springs spilling from the fault lines above. You will walk the terraces barefoot, warm water running over your feet, the plain of the Lycus valley shining below.
The Romans knew a good spa when they saw one. On the plateau above the terraces they built Hierapolis, a health resort city whose necropolis is among the largest and best-preserved Roman graveyards anywhere — its citizens came for the cure and often, philosophically, stayed forever. The theater and wide marble streets are must-sees, and the Antique Pool (Cleopatra's Pool) lets you swim among submerged Roman columns.
The day begins, of course, with a full guided visit of Ephesus — including the Terrace Houses, House of Virgin Mary and Temple of Artemis as options — before the scenic three-hour drive inland. It is our longest standard day and our most photographed.
The earliest start of our standard tours — the reward is having Ephesus nearly to yourself.
The classic guided circuit, with optional Terrace Houses while legs are fresh.
Around three hours through cotton fields and mountain scenery, with a comfort stop — many guests call the landscape a bonus tour.
The spa city of the Romans: necropolis, monumental gate, theater and the sacred pool.
Shoes off, feet in the warm water, camera full — sunset light on the travertines is the day's finale.
A long, satisfied drive home; most guests sleep like Roman senators.

Wading on the terraces is part of the visit (shoes off, by regulation). Proper swimming happens in Cleopatra's Antique Pool at Hierapolis — thermally warm, scattered with ancient columns, and worth the separate ticket.
The sites themselves delight kids — it is the six hours of total driving that tests them. For families we often suggest an overnight version; ask us.
Swimwear and a towel if you fancy the Antique Pool, a bag for your shoes on the terraces, sunglasses (the travertine glare is real) and sunscreen.
