What are the workshops like to visit?
Warm, and completely unhurried. We use established, fully insured ateliers of the kind the cruise lines recommend, where the craftspeople are glad to show you how the work is done over a glass of tea. Stay five minutes or an hour, ask anything you like, and buy nothing at all if you prefer — the day is just as good either way.
Is bargaining expected?
In ateliers, respectfully, yes — and your guide will coach you on fair ranges so both sides leave happy. Fixed-price shops are clearly that.
Can big purchases be shipped home?
Reputable artisan houses ship worldwide with insurance and documentation. We only introduce you to places whose shipping we have seen work.
