What makes this tour special

There are two ancient ways of life on this tour. The first is imperial Rome — the marble streets, library and grand theater of Ephesus. The second never fell: the hillside village of Sirince, where houses climb the slope in whitewash and timber, grandmothers still roll pasta by hand, and the orchards produce the fruit wines the village is famous for.

After a full guided morning in Ephesus and a stop at the Temple of Artemis, we drive twenty minutes into the hills. Sirince is best experienced slowly: wander lanes full of local handcrafts and natural products, taste olive oils and village wines, and sit down to a long lunch of the best Turkish dishes, cooked the way the villagers make them for their own tables.

Your guide grew up around these villages — expect introductions, not transactions: the weaver who explains her loom, the winemaker who pours the quince vintage himself.

  2. Temple of Artemis

The single standing column of the great wonder, and the stories of its rise and burning.

Free-flowing time in the lanes: handcrafts, tastings, viewpoints and the courtyards of old Greek-Ottoman houses.

  4. Village lunch & local artisans

A leisurely table at a family-run village restaurant — whatever is local and fresh, cooked by local cooks — with the lanes of village handcrafts waiting right outside.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Sirince touristy?

It is popular, but with a local guide you will step past the main lane into the village that is still real — and we time the visit for its calmer hours.

Are the wine tastings included?

Informal tastings at village producers are generally free; buying a bottle is optional and, we warn you, very tempting.

Is lunch included in the price?

Yes. Every tour of ours that visits Ephesus now includes lunch — whatever is local and whatever is fresh, cooked by local chefs. Only personal drinks are separate.
