Silversea in Kusadasi: What Your Fare Covers at Ephesus and Where a Guide Fits

The schedules show one Silversea ship at Kusadasi in the coming year: Silver Nova, with 13 calls listed. Two questions shape a Silversea day at Ephesus, whether an excursion is already part of your fare and how long the ship is really in port, and both answers sit in your own booking. Is an Ephesus excursion part of your Silversea fare?

That depends on the fare you booked, and it is worth checking before you plan anything else. On the Silver Nova sailing we checked, the round trip from Piraeus departing 26 October 2026, the base All-Inclusive fare listed butler service, dining, drinks, Wi-Fi, entertainment, port fees and gratuities among its inclusions, but not shore excursions. A higher fare tier on the same sailing added a shore excursion credit to spend on Silversea’s own experiences. Your booking confirmation tells you which fare you hold.

For that voyage Silversea lists 21 excursions at Kusadasi (see Silversea’s page for the voyage). The line updates its excursion program as the season approaches and asks guests to review their choices closer to the sailing date, so the final list is the one you see then.

Where does a private guide fit alongside Silversea?

If your fare carries an excursion credit, spending it with the ship makes good sense: it is already paid for, and if a ship’s tour is held up, the ship waits for it. Guests on fares with excursions included may simply prefer the ship’s program, and that is a fine choice.

A private guide fits in three situations. Your fare does not include excursions. You want one plan for your own party, at your own pace, with the Terrace Houses and the House of the Virgin Mary in the same day. Or someone in your group would rather hear the story in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Russian, Italian or German, the languages our guides work in besides English. Which days is Silver Nova in Kusadasi?

These 13 dates are listed by cruisetimetables.com and CruiseMapper, checked 28 September 2026. Silver Nova makes every one of them; Friday is the most common day, with five calls.

The schedule sites show every one of these calls as 08:00 to 23:00. Silversea’s own page for the late-October voyage does not agree: it has Kusadasi on 27 October 2026, from 08:00 to 17:30, where the schedule sites list 28 October. For your date and your hours, Silversea’s voyage page and the documents the line sends you are the authority. Until yours say otherwise, we plan for a call of about 9.5 hours and do not count on an evening ashore.

What does 08:00 to 17:30 leave you at Ephesus?

A full private day, timed in reverse from the all-aboard hour in the ship’s daily program. It runs roughly like this:

1. 08:00, alongside. Down the gangway, along the pier and out of the terminal on the town side, where your guide stands holding a sign with your name.
2. To the Upper Gate. 20–30 minutes by car, or up to 45 on the busiest port days. The gates open at 08:00, just as the ship is due, so you start while the day is still young.
3. The ancient city. The downhill route from the Upper Gate to the Harbor Gate, roughly 1.5 km: two to three hours past the Library of Celsus and the Great Theater, with skip-the-line entry.
4. The Terrace Houses. About 45 minutes more among the frescoes and mosaics of the city’s wealthiest homes, on a separate €15 ticket (the Ephesus ticket is €40 in 2026).
5. Lunch, then the House of the Virgin Mary in the pine forest above the city, and the Temple of Artemis on the way back if the clock allows.
6. Back to the pier at the time you and your guide worked out that morning from all-aboard, with the old town right outside the terminal for a last stroll.

That is our Full Day Ephesus tour, which takes 7–8 hours and fits inside a 9.5-hour call. For a shorter day, the Best of Ephesus tour (4–5 hours) keeps the ancient city, the House of the Virgin Mary and the Temple of Artemis, and the Ephesus and Village Life tour (6–7 hours) trades the Terrace Houses for a long lunch in the hill village of Sirince. Tickets are bought by us in advance at the Ministry’s gate price without any mark-up; you pay that cost apart from the tour and walk past the ticket line.

Will Silver Nova fit any pier at Ege Port?

Yes. Silver Nova, delivered in 2023 as the first of Silversea’s Evolution class, is 244 m long and carries 728 guests. Ege Port’s four double berths take ships of up to 300 m (berths 1–2), 253 m (3–4), 331 m (5–6) and 387 m (7–8). At 244 m she is shorter than all four limits, so the port can place her at any berth, and it decides on the day.
